Device & Legal Use Policy

Last updated: 7 October 2026

This policy applies to every repair, software and tool-rental request made through softtechnologytools.com, the request tracking page and the STT Shopkeeper Portal, and to every partner shop. By sending a request you agree to it.

Mukhtasar (Roman Urdu): Request bhejne wala khud zimmedar hai ke phone us ka hai ya us ke paas ijazat hai. IMEI change, repair ya patch karna, chori ya block shuda phone kholna aur PTA bypass karna gair-qanooni hai. STT aur partner dukaanein ye kaam nahi karteen. Agar aap koi bhi gair-qanooni kaam karte ya karwate hain to us ki poori qanooni zimmedari sirf aap par hai.

1. You are responsible for your request

  • You confirm that you own the phone or have the owner’s permission to get it repaired, unlocked or serviced.
  • The information you give (name, mobile number, device, problem) must be true.
  • If you take part in, ask for or use our services for any illegal activity, you alone are fully responsible for it and for its legal consequences. Soft Technology Tools (STT) and its partner shops are not responsible for any illegal use of a device or service.

2. Services we never provide

STT and partner shops refuse every request to:

  • change, repair, re-write, clone or “patch” an IMEI number or any other unique device identifier;
  • make a phone with a blocked, duplicate or non-PTA-approved IMEI work on Pakistani mobile networks, or bypass PTA registration, DIRBS checks or the taxes due on a phone;
  • unlock, flash or reset a phone that is reported stolen, lost or blocked;
  • remove an FRP, Google account, iCloud / Activation Lock or carrier lock without proof that you own the phone;
  • install spy or tracking software on someone else’s phone, break into accounts, or copy someone else’s data;
  • use a rented servicing tool (for example UnlockTool, DFT Pro, EFT Pro, CM2, Chimera) for any of the above.

3. What the law says

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) treats IMEI tampering and cloned devices as illegal. Under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016, anyone who changes, alters, tampers with or re-programs the unique identifier of a mobile phone and then uses or sells that phone can be punished with imprisonment of up to three years, a fine of up to Rs 1 million, or both. The FIA can take action against such devices, including seizing them, and PTA can block them from the network. This summary is for awareness only and is not legal advice.

4. Proof of ownership

A shop may ask for the phone’s box, purchase receipt or warranty card, and a CNIC that matches the request, before starting work. For account, FRP, iCloud or network unlocking, proof of ownership is required. A shop may refuse any job it believes is unlawful.

5. What happens if this policy is broken

  • The request is refused or closed, and any rental ends without refund.
  • Partner shops that break this policy are suspended or removed permanently.
  • STT keeps records of requests (details, time, network address and the terms you accepted) and shares them with PTA, the FIA or the police when the law requires it.

6. Check a phone before you buy it

You can check whether a phone’s IMEI is approved on PTA’s DIRBS service: dirbs.pta.gov.pk.
